The sublime and vast Parco delle Cascine sits on the outskirts of the historical centre of Florence and runs along the banks of the River Arno, that eventually winds into the city and under such famous treasures as Ponte Vecchio and the Uffizi Gallery. This beautiful green stretch of Florence provides the perfect complement to a city so rich in human history.
While languishing in the quiet residential area just north of the park, where you’ll get to see a side of this beautiful city’s suburbia not oft beheld by the tourist class, the three-star Astor Hotel Florence is just an easy stroll into the heart of the city, with Santa Maria Novella - the main train station and entrance to the historical centre, just 2.3 km away.
Public transport will bring you from the airport into Santa Maria Novella Station, after that a short taxi ride will bring you to Via Maragliano 101 where you’ll find the Astor Hotel Florence. If driving, enter the city from the west on the A11 which turns into Via Alessandro Guidoni. When you can’t go any further straight, take a right onto Via Enrico Forlanini, left at the following roundabout onto Via di Novoli and then bear left to continue on Viale Francesco Redi. Finally take the second right onto Via Francesco Veracini and then first left onto Via Maragliano.
